The Pianist

The story of Anna Ray Borho is, in a large part, the history of Leander. The railroad town which swallowed up the old settlement of Bagdad has itself become almost a part of Austin, but clues to its unique past remain for those willing to search them out.

Al Jennings of Oklahoma
Fri, Jul 09, 2010
Al Jennings of Oklahoma, largely through masterful self-promotion, became for a time the best-known of the outlaws of the American West. He was a genuine bandit, he did go to a Federal penitentiary for attempted murder on a life sentence which was commuted to five years in 1900. He was pardoned by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1902.

Here, Horace and Myrtle Oestreich, of Inman's Kitchen in Llano, accept a plaque from Bob Cole and Bucky Godbolt of KVET in Austin after they won a listeners' poll as the "Best BBQ Joint in Central Texas" last spring.

"Stepping" Back in Time
Fri, Aug 06, 2010
Written about growing up in the 50s and 60s in Austin and the Hill Country in general. During the 60s, there were no homes on Lake Austin or Lake Travis to speak of. It was just wild country with a few beer and dance halls here and there. These dance halls were, for the most part, owned by Cedar Choppers and were off limits to most other people who lived in the city. I just went anyway and behaved myself while I was there.
